Intensive training programme on  ECBC

 Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) has been notified by the Central Government under section 14 (p) read with Section 56(2) of the Energy Conservation Act 2001, Central Act 52 of 2001. ECBC covers building envelope, heating ventilation, and air conditioning system, interior and exterior lighting system, service hot water, electrical power system and motors with respect to energy efficiency at the design stage. EC Act 2001 in Section 15 provides the State Government, by rules made by it, to specify and notify ECBC and gives powers to direct every owner or occupier of a building or building complex being a designated consumer to comply with the provisions of ECBC.

Energy Management Centre - Kerala, the State Designate Agency (SDA) to implement the EC Act in Kerala, is actively pursuing capacity building efforts in ECBC and notification of ECBC in the State. EMC had conducted a two day Intensive Training Programme on Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) on 24th and 25th October, 2013 at the Residency Tower, Thiruvananthapuram in association with BEE, UNDP and GEF. There are 49 trained Personal/Engineers/Architects from various organizations were attended the programme.
